A Masculine Happy Birthday Card

Hello everyone!

Just a really quick one today. I made this card a while back for my brother on his 22nd birthday. He reported his favourite colours are red and black, which gave me inspiration (and a challenge) to work within those colours.

Also, note how I curved and distressed the edges of the sentiment to give it a more dimensional and realistic look (pun intended).

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekends :).

thank you so much.

Hello! Bonjour! Hola!

I hope everyone is doing well! I'm so excited Spring is here... because it's April... so it should be... right? Not in Calgary (Canada). We got another glimpse of winter today as it snowed and flurried all day! And we're still expecting another 7-9cm this weekend!! For those of you who are not familiar with Calgary, this is nothing out of the ordinary. Because of our location east of the Rocky Mountains, we are blessed with all sorts of bizarre, sometimes unpredictable, weather patterns. I don't mind it, actually. I find it interesting, but let's be honest, I want the sun already!!

I made this card using the My Mind's Eye "Cutie Pie" stamp set. It was given to me as a gift and I just love it!! There's so much versatility! You can create either a fun look or an elegant look using the doily stamps. In this case, I used an emboss-resist technique and then cut them out. (Got a bit impatient with the big, final one!)

Have a nice day!

(An Outdated) Thanks

Hello!

Like many of the cards I will likely post in the next little while... this one is old now! But what the heck, I'd still like to share it. I made this card in the fall for my classmates that managed our grad banquet fundraisers and planning. The card was presented on behalf of our graduating class of course. It was a fun little project!

Hope everyone is doing well and avoiding the nasty colds that are going around. Ryley has been sick this week - inconveniently. He starts his brand new job on Monday so I hope he recovers by then!

I'll be back soon with plenty of cards inspired by Pattern Play :).

Hello Sunshine!

Hello sunshine, hello spring, hello everything!

Uh oh, it has been 5 months since I posted last... and let me tell you that was a fast 5 months!! I have been on the go since Fall. It's been one thing to the next: finished my degree, got a job, moved into a new home, participated in a craft sale, celebrated Christmas, adopted a couple of kitties with my boyfriend, took a trip to BC, did some skiing, took a course for work... needless to say, there's hardly been room for crafting, let alone blogging about my crafting!

Alas, I registered for the latest online card class called Pattern Play. It's Day 3 already and so far I am loving it. I absolutely love the projects every designer makes so I am excited to have the opportunity to learn from them. I've already made one card using a few easy tips I learned from Day 1.

I also made this card compatible with the guidelines for Hero Arts Monthly Contest. It's been a while since I submitted anything!!

I started with Jennifer McGuire's tip on using striped paper. I stamped and embossed the Hero Arts "Wildflower Garden" image on the tag. Then I mounted it on a "solid" color. And finally I embellished it, but only a little ;). I love the bright colors and contrast of this card. So warm. And how fitting because today is the first day of Spring! Yay! (It was absolutely gorgeous here in Calgary today.)
